A Christmas Letter
Posted by Art Nuernberg on December 21, 2011
Dear Friends,
The eternal God never distances Himself from His creation. He is everywhere and personally involved with all that happens. Paul could proclaim to lost men that in Him we live and move and have our being, but mankind needed more. Sin darkened our hearts and obscured our comprehension of God. From creation, we knew something of God's power and wisdom; but to understand the beauty of His essential character, we needed a person. We needed to observe God's character at work in circumstances in order to embrace Him. The Lord humbled Himself and answered our need. The Word became flesh to dwell among us, and we saw His glory. We observed righteousness in action. Jesus showed us the Father through a life saturated with grace and truth.
Shepherds and wise men saw grace and truth in the humble circumstances of Jesus' birth. They came to worship this child, who was God in flesh. Years later, Thomas would reach out to touch the hand of this One, full of grace and truth, who died and rose again. As he touched Immanuel's hand, he too worshiped, “My Lord and my God.”
Shall we not give thanks this year as we remember the day when God joined our human experience? Shall we not praise Him that we have seen His glory through His Word? As we understand anew Christ's grace and truth, shall we not join in worship?
As we approach the close of this year, our staff testifies of God's faithfulness with great thanksgiving. Because He met us in every way, we continue the work of making disciples. Materially and spiritually, we have been greatly blessed. Thank you for the vital part you played through praying for our labors and giving to this work. May you receive a rich reward for your faithfulness.
On behalf of the entire staff, I want to wish you a blessed Christmas. As you think on His birth, may the Lord reveal Himself afresh and may His grace and truth grant you peace and great joy.
In Our Lord,
Art Nuernberg
